Robust steel spikes in 7 mm length. Slightly longer than the standard 6 mm spikes for more grip, especially in wetter ground conditions. The choice of spike length also depends on the regulations of the sports facility. The length for competitions can be found in the respective competition announcement. Sprinters often choose needle-like spikes for their superior grip. Thanks to their sharp point, they are mainly used on synthetic tracks and harder or wetter surfaces. In contrast, hexagonal spikes reduce the stress on the track. They only penetrate the ground to the extent permitted by the shape, ensuring more uniform power transmission. This makes hexagonal spikes a very good and versatile option for hard, soft, and damp surfaces, and they are particularly suitable for the high jump. Thanks to their edges, hexagonal spikes are often easier to unscrew from shoes when they have been screwed in very tightly. To do this, you need a Torx® T15 external wrench, also known as a “hexagon spike wrench.” These spikes are suitable for spike shoes of all well-known manufacturers.
